Measures to Guard Your Heart

• Maintain your ideal weight: Staying healthy weight is a source of life. Adjust your diet to your daily activity (the more sedentary, less calories). Choose nutritious but low in calories and eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

• Use virgin olive oil: it is a monounsaturated fat that lowers LDL or bad cholesterol, and increases HDL, or good. Other studies claim that olive oil is also an anticoagulant.

• Reduce or avoid alcohol consumption: Excess alcohol causes the heart to contract and that the worst of the beating rate decrease, which is produced atrial fibrillation. Red wine is an exception: it is known that a glass of red wine may be beneficial, but only one drink no more.
